Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey

New Jersey Stop Sign Law

Is it true that at a stop sign in New Jersey, when the first car stops at the stop sign with other cars behind him,- then proceeds, up to a maximum of '5' cars behind that car may proceed through that stop sign 'without each car' stopping for that sign. What is the Statue about that & where may I get it?

Thank you

Re: New Jersey Stop Sign Law

What you wrote is absolutely NOT true. Each car at a stop sign must come to a complete stop before going through the stop sign. See N.J.S.A. 39:4-144 for the details. I am an attorney who has handled very many traffic ticket cases in the past in various courts in New Jersey. If you got a ticket like you described or any other ticket pleas call me at 908-272-0111. There is never any charge for simply discussing a case with me. Thank you. SIncerely yours, -Ronald Aronds, Esq.
