Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey

Juvenile

My son is 15. He and his 4 friends were walking in a small town in Margate NJ and came across a home with a garage that was open. In the garage were 2 bikes which the boys took. The police were near by and happened to catch my son and 1 other boy. My son had 1 bike but the other bike got away. They were taken to the police station and my son was released over to me. He was not charged with anything as far as I know. He was not read his rights nor was he booked. Now after 10 days or so the police called my house and they want me to take my son in to be finger printed. I haven't done so as of yet and they haven't called again to press the issue. Do they have the right to finger print my son. This took place in Atlantic County, NJ.

Thank you kindly

Re: Juvenile

It depends on the purpose for the fingerprints. You should obtain an attorney for your son.
