Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey

Juvenile summons was issued for my 16 y son. Tresspassing on the RR tracks.

It states that by law we are required to have an attorney. He has minor priors. What would happen if we show up without an attorney? Cannot afford 2 grand when he is pleading guilty anyway.

Thanks

If you cannot afford a private attorney then you should immediately apply for the public defender. If you are granted the services of the public defender, great. Just remember that later on you will have to reimburse them for their services. If you are NOT granted the services of the public defender, please contact my office. We can discuss financing, but more importantly we can discuss how I can help your son. He may not want to just plead guilty - there is at least a possibility that we can get a lesser charge or even a dismissal of the charge against him. Thank you.

SIncerely yours, -Ronald Aronds, Esq.-
