Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey
Juvenile, First time offender, Possession of Marijuana
I am 16 and have never been in
trouble with the law before. I get A's
and B's in my honors classes in
highschool and participate in
extracurricular activities such as
sports.
I was arrested the other night for
posession of 12 grams of marijuana.
The officer never mentioned intent to
distribute or anything.
I was wondering if you could please
help me find out what could be the
outcome of my case. Do I need a
lawyer? Will I get probation? How
much could my fine be.
Thank you

Re: Juvenile, First time offender, Possession of Marijuana
Because you are a minor (under age 18) you do need a lawyer. On a criminal charge like this you can't go to court without one. In addition to this your parents have to come to court with you. You are charged with a violation of the criminal code, and at least in theory are looking a some jail time, but a lawyer should be able to help you out of this predicament. I am an attorney who has handled many cases similar to yours in various courts throughout New Jersey in the past. Please contact me with your mom or dad to discuss your case in more detail. I never charge for simply talking to a person about their case. Thank you.
Sincerely yours, -Ronald Aronds, Esq.-
