I am an attorney who goes to the Linden court frequently. In fact I have a case in the Linden court tomorrow. You are looking at potentially having a criminal record, potentially doing up to six months in jail, potentially losing your driver's license for up to 2 years, and potentially having to pay over $1,000.00 in fines on top of the mandatory states fees. This is a standard possession case. In NJ, depending on the facts of the offense, your attorney can get you probation or plead it down to a lesser offense. I'd have to see your court documents. Feel free to give our offices a call. We handle these cases, and our fees are very reasonable.

Since it is a first offense a lawyer should be able to speak to the prosecutor and judge about getting you into a first time offender's program, depending on the circumstances. I would have to review the discovery in order to give additional information or liklihood of the program......Penalties could include jail but it is highly, highly unlikely on a first offense.
