Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey
Can someone please tell me my legal right as a signer on a bailbond? I signed a bailbond for my boyfriend a few months ago. the bail was $25,000.00 with no 10%. The bondsman agreed to do it with 10%. They allowed me to bail him out through them for $780.00 and a payment plan for the balance with my boyfriend the inmate. He has not made one payment and is not taking care of his responsibilities with the bondmen or any of his other legal obligations and now I am in fear he may run before his court date. Can I have my name removed from the bond and him taken back into custody to ensure he does not skip court and leave me with a $25,000 debt? I have solid information that he may run before his court date.
