Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey

lifting

i have been accused of shoplifting of 247$ valued of items and this is my first offense ..as my record is clear till now....and i am guilty of my offense and i am asked to appear the court..and will the judge sentence me imprisonment..or will he just penalize me and is there a chance of clearing my record like not having this criminal offense in my record......plz do someone guide me with this....as i dying with tension......thnk u

First of all, the best way to get your record clear is to fight the case have it dismissed or be foudn not guilty. Let the lawyer decide if they can prove the case against you.

Second, if you have no record, you probably won't go to jail, but you don't want this on your record. It could make getting a job, going to college, etc. very difficult for you in the future. Thus, speak to an attorney before you do or say anything.
