Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey

Lighting off fireworks; charged with criminal mischief?

My friends and I shot off a couple fireworks, police showed up. They wrote us a disorderly conduct ticket the statute number on the ticket being B.O. 134-27. Now I tried to look this number up because I have recently had a background investigation done for customs and border protection and this offense came up as Criminal Mischief not a disorderly conduct offense to which I pleaded guilty to and payed a mere $50 fine plus court costs. Should I have Criminal Mischief on my record? Thanks, Brandon

If you have already pled guilty, it is a bit late to

be asking if you should have done that. The offense

number does not match up with the New Jersey Criminal Code, which starts out with N.J.S.A. 2C:.

It would appear that you pled guilty to a municipal ordinance, which is the most minor criminal-like offense that one can be charge in New Jersey.

Call me if you like.

I agree with Mr. Moore. You were never charged with a crime to begin with. I would call the court and find out from them what is going on before you do anything else.
