Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey

marijuana possesion

I'am a minor that was arrested for the possesion of a very small amount of marijuana in a school zone. The arrest was made very late at night on a Friday. I did not have any paraphenalia. What are the possible things that could happen to me? Also, someone mentioned something to me about entering ''The Program'' which would enter me into anti-drug and violence programs and would make me subject to random drug testing, but would free me from a conviction. Does anyone know anything more about this ''Program'' and the things that could happen to me?

Re: marijuana possesion

I am an experienced criminal defense attorney in New Jersey. I would need to know a lot more details about the arrest to give you a fair evaluation of what may happen. In the best case, we may be able to get you into a conditional discharge program, but I do not know what kind of a record you have.

Re: marijuana possesion

I am not able to predict specifically what will happen in your case because these things are so fact specific, however, there are several "programs" you may qualify for whereby you'll be able to avoid having a conviction on your record. Most of them require you to stay out of further trouble and you may be required to do drug/alc testing, etc.

If you'd like to discuss your case further, I offer free consultations.

Thanks,

Daniel Kelley
