Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey
Hello in the last month I have acquired a simple assualt charge due to a fight at a local bar!!! I was wondering how to go about fighting this charge!!! I have no prior confictions or prior records in any state!!! Can I use a conditional discharge for this charge?

The only first offender program in municipal "court, in New Jersey, is for possessing a small amount of marijuana or possessing drug paraphenalia. One solution is to change the charge to a municipal court ordinance, which can be expunged two years after the fine is paid, assuming
there is no probation required.
