Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey
i got paid for a job, i didnt finish it, now i have police calling me saying its a possible theft, when the checks i recieved he gave me and signed them so how is it theft i know i have to give the money back but can i get arested?

At this point, anything you say or do can be used against you. I urge you to call an attorney now before you even think about doing anything. Thinking you can just explain this away or just pay back the money may be a bad idea. If the police think you are guilty, the crime is over.
