Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey

PI got caught during surveillance

I hired a PI in New Jersey to follow a woman I suspect is having an affair with my husband. My intention was to find out where she lived so then I could have the option of hiring the PI again if I thought my husband would be with her. He travels and works out of Newark Airport and we live in R.I. so the opportunity is there. Unfortunately for me, the PI got pulled over by 3 police cars (she called 911 and said someone was following her). He produced his license and stated his purpose of following her ---he did not give my name but told the police he was hired by someone from Rhode Island.(I could scream at that divulgence) Can she take the PI to court and have him divulge my identity??? Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: PI got caught during surveillance

She can't bring him to court to court to give your name. Only the police can bring a charge against him. If they don't bring a charge, then you have nothing to worry about. If they do bring a charge, I don't think giving your name is relevant to the case - and even if he is forced to divulge it, if he has a lawyer this is the kind of information that his lawyer can ask to divulge to the judge in private just to confirm his story. Honestly, I don't think you have anything to worry about in that area.

Good luck.
