Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey
Plaintiff's history...
When a rape victim is on the stand, there are certain rules which prevent her/his sexual history from coming into light. What is it called when the victim says something that allows the Defense Atty to now explore said history. I hope this is worded correct!!

There term is "opening the door." This means that a witness has made a statement which creates the situation
where the other side would be placed at an unfair disadvantage if it could not pursue what was, otherwise, a prohibited line of questioning.
