Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey

Police Officer

I am currently going through the process of being a Police Officer here in NJ. I was arrested last May for falsifing legal Documents.I applyed for a gun permit and on the app it asked if you have ever been arrested as a jv i put no cause thats what the DET said to do and I was arrested as a JV. In court I recieved PTI. My permit to carry was taken and I had to surrender my glock. Can I still become a cop with this. I am having it exspunshed after PTI. Can this be held against me. The JV arrest was for aggervated assault with a night stick.I was 17 and the guy was 27.Please let me know thanks for your help.

Re: Police Officer

I don't think that's really an issue for criminal defense attorneys, but I do represent a lot of cops, so what I can tell you is that its going to be up to the Department that hires you. You just have to be totally up front with them.
