A crime in New Jersey is equal to what is called a felony in other states, such as New York. A third degree crime is an offense punishable by up to five years in prison.

There are no such things as felonies and misdemeanors in New Jersey. Higher levels of offenses such as this one (Ketamine possession) are called crimes. Lower level criminal offenses are called Disorderly Persons Offenses and the lowest level of criminal offense is called a Petty Disorderly Persons Offense. You are potentially facing up to five years in prison on the the ketamine possession charge. Please contact me to discuss your case in more detail. I never charge for simply discussing a person's case with them. Thank you.

Sincerely yours, -Ronald Aronds, Esq.-
