Re: Post Indictment and Arraignment
The judge asks how you plead (guilty or not guilty) and advises you to get a lawyer if you don't have one. If you have a lawyer he may use that opportunity to speak to the prosecutor to see what type of plea offer is going to be made. I am an attorney who has handled many cases similar to yours in various courts throughout New Jersey in the past. Please contact me to discuss your case in more detail. I never charge for simply talking to a person about their case. Thank you.

"Post" means after. The consitution of the United States entitles you to knowing the nature of the charge brought against you. An indictment is a formal charge of a serious criminal offense. The arraignment is the court appearance where a copy of the indictment is given to your lawyer so that you will know what the charge or charges are.
