Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey

what is a pre arraign conferance

I had car stolen. I went down to the police station to get car released to insurance agency. When I got there they arson investigators gave me the 10th degree. They were very intimidating so instead of getting into a war of words I just said that I would be more comfortable getting a lawyer. Now, 3 months later i have this pre arraign conferance. Is it just a formality?

Re: what is a pre arraign conferance

The pre-arraignment conference is one of the first steps in the criminal court system. The defendant is advised of the charges against him/her and other court/defendant business is conducted.

Based on the facts you entered, if the pre-arraignment conference is for "you," then it sounds like you have been charged with a crime or crimes - maybe for arson and/or insurance fraud.

If you are in South Jersey and would like to consider an attorney to defend the charges against you, feel free to give me a call.
