Re: What is a preidictmetn conference

The indictment is an accusation made by the grand jury setting forth the charges that a defendant will be tried on if he plead not guilty. A preindictment conference is a plea bargaining session before the matter is presented to the grand jury where the state is supposed to make the best plea bargain it will ever make.

You should have an attorney before the preindictment hearing because if you appear without one it may be cancelled and the opportunity lost to work out some arrangement which might even be a downgrade to municipal court or pretrial intervention first offender status.

Call me if you like.
