Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey
Prescription Drug Fraud
I worked for a surgeon and had access to signed rx's. In a panic for rent money, I took two rx's, wrote them in my husbands name for a sched II narcotic, and he had them filled. That afternoon at work, I took a call from the pharmacy, and verified the rx myself. Work found out anyway, I was fired. When I got home I was so scared I flushed everything and prayed for another way to get the money.I have no record of any kind. I am married with 7 children. My husband has been out of work for 9 months. I had an eviction notice, and had no way to get the money I needed to not lose our home of 13 years. For the past few months I have been in counseling and on medication for stress and anxiety. My husband is on prob. for buying beer for a teenager, they called it contrib. to the delinqunecy of a minor. When my employer questioned me I admitted everything. I didn't want to make a bad situation worse by lying. They reported it to the police. Are we going to go to jail? This just happened yesterday. I've sent my kids to my mothers incase the police come to arrest us. I'm so scared. We can't afford a lawyer. Should I turn myself in to the police?

Re: Prescription Drug Fraud
Don't worry. You won't be going to jail.
Since you don't have funds, sounds like you will be getting a public defender. However, if you have questions right now, call me and I will be happy to answer them.
