can probation for a drug possession charge be served out of state?

Yes, but it is not automatic. You have to ask for it and the other state has to accept you.

I agree with Henninger, but it is also to have unsupervised probation where your probation officer just does a monthly record check in insure you have not been arrested again. You need the judge to order such probation.
