It is normal for the police to investigate the last person known to have control of the money. The need to know how someone else had access to the money. Be careful because the police can be a bit lazy. You need a lawyer.

It is a correct enough procedure that you can't do anything about it except ask for a lawyer to be present.

You don't get to dictate who the suspect is, or how the police conduct an investigation. You have an absolute right to consult with an attorney, and to have one present while you are being questioned by the police, and you should avail yourself of the opportunity.

The police are allowed to investigate anyone they have a reasonable belief may have committed a crime. Under the circumstances you describe it sounds like they are acting reasonably.
