Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey

Public Urination Offense

Last week I was slapped a summons and ticket with a required court appearance for public urination in a park under South Orange municipal ordinance 113.3. Please let me know how I should deal with this case in court. Should I plead guilty or not guilty? I am broke can I ask them to do community service instead? Please let me know the best way to get out of this. I have a clean record not even parking/speeding tickets.

Thank you sir/madam.

Peeing in public is not a major offense but if you seek employment at a higher level a conviction for same will make you look unreliable. If you are guilty of the offense you need to get the prosecutor to agree to change the charge to a vague municipal ordinance for being disorderly.

An adept lawyer would probably better at making this happen than someone like you who is totally unfamiliar with criminal prosecution.

Call me if you like. I am willing to attempt to give you a break on the fee but I will charge a legal fee.

You might want to speak with the prosecutor first to see what you can arrange by yourself. If he won't amend the charge then tell him you want time to speak with an attorney. Or you could just go in with an attorney now. Its not that big of a charge, but as Mr. Moore said, it could impact you at some point in your life.

My initial consultations are always free, so call me at 732/247/3340 if you'd like to discuss your case.
