Your concern is misdirected. The penalty for a first offender on a disorderly persons offenses is usuall a fine not ex exceeding $250.00, although the maximum fine is $1,000.00. You should be concerned that a shoplifting conviction will not only keep you from working in the banking, investment and insurance industries. It will keep you from working for McDonald's or CVS. You need to have your charge changed to something which is not theft. Call me, if you like.
