Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey

Receiving Stolen Signs

I was charged with receiving stolen property, 2 road signs. Also with posession on tools used to obtain such signs. The signs were given to me by a friend and were in my trunk. As for the tools they belonged to a gentleman who is a mechanic and I was droping him home. I pleaded not guilty and Now I am just waiting for my court date. What are my chances of winning this case?

Re: Receiving Stolen Signs

I would have to review all of the evidence in the case before I could give you a definite answer to your question. In general though, based on what you wrote, I would say I could probably beat the burglary tools charge, and possibly beat the receiving stolen property charge if we could come up with a reasonable explanation as to why they were in your trunk. I am an attorney who has handled many cases similar to yours in various courts throughout New Jersey in the past. Please contact me to discuss your case in more detail. I never charge for simply talking to a person about their case. Thank you.
