Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey
I recently was awaken by campus police, for the following reasons, "they smelled pot", after barging in and waking me up from sleeping at 2:00 am in the morning they then said . " Why is the toilet bowl leaking, did you try to flush something down the toilet bowl? As this was taking place I was very upset and thought I was having a bad dream. They asked me to sit down, I said no I did raise my voice. Then they said there were people climbing out of the window. I said great where are the people. It ended with them cuffing me. The violation is 2c:33-2A(1). What are the penalities. ??

You are looking at possible jail, fines, criminal record, etc. However, the big problem you have (in my opinion) is really the criminal record, especially since you are in school. Call me at 732/773/2768 to discuss the case further.
You are charged with disorderly conduct, a petty disorder offense punishable by up to 90 days in jail and a $500.00 fine. From the facts which you cite I do not see how could be found guillt
if your case is handled properly by your attorney.
Call me if you like.
30 days in jail and a $500.00 fine plus various other monetary penalties equaling a couple of hundred dollars, plus having a criminal record if you are convicted. This whole thing sounds like nonsense to me and if I was you I would fight it. Please contact me to discuss your case in more detail. I never charge for simply talking to a person about their case. Thank you.
Sincerely yours, -Ronald Aronds, Esq.-
