Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey
I recently compensated someone for incidental damages. The individual set forth i pay $1000 to cover the gap in his costs to cover the costs he had in exchange for not prosecuting me and making the issue go away. I sent him the money and have retained all the receipts of payment and sent him copies as he requested. Upon completing this he informed me that the ordeal was settled. Weeks later, I got a message from a detective informing me to call him in regards to this matter. What should I do? Do I have any legal recourse in this matter as this individual has apparently broken the agreement he had with me? I have all my receipts as proof of payment.
