Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey
I recieved two dui's about 7 years ago. I got a fake license and got a dui on that - 6 years ago. I went before a judge (under the fake name) and pleaded guilty on that DUI on the fake license. I have since gotten sober and really cleaned up my life. I want to clean up this mess and eventually hope to get my license back. IF I turn myself in, can I go to jail?

Stop using the fake license, turn it in to the Motor Vehicle Commission office nearest you, and find out from them what you need to do to get your legitimate license restored. Depending upon how things play out, you could very well find yourself with a third DWI conviction and that means a mandatory 6 months in jail. However, since it was on a different, fake, license that you got the third DWI, I cannot honestly tell you which authority would be willing to handle this matter. If you do what I say and you end up getting a new court date as a result please contact my office at that time to talk about what I can do to help you.
Sincerely yours, -Ronald Aronds, Esq.-
