Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey
restaining order contemt
my wife and I got into a arguement last night and she slapped me so i pushed her away and the police were called, they arrested me,even though in her written statement she said she slapped me before i pushed her,so the issued a temp restraining order and rode me to a hotel, the hotel was booked and the cop was gone, it was cold so i walked 3 miles to another hotel, they were also booked, this was around 3am, so with nowhere else to go,I walked the other 2 miles back home and slept in my truck,in the morning i wanted my keys so i could go to work,i tapped on a window but no answer so i opened the screen to the bathroom window but the window was locked so i went back in my truck, my wife called the police who arrested me again, and now say im facing contemt charges. my question is, am I going to jail?? and how much of a fine will there be? and will I ever get to go back in my house if only to pack up my stuff and move away?

Re: restaining order contemt
You could go to jail and receive a substantial fine but with the assistance of an attorney you should be able to avoid a jail sentence and a large fine.
