Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey

Scammed

I belong to a gaming league online and have become close to everyone there. One of the people on the league cried to me that she was getting evicted in 2 days and had a friend who would take her, her husband, and her 6 month old daughter in. The problem was that she had no money for the bus tickets. My consern was mainly for the child, so being good hearted, I wired her money for bus tickets and a little extra for food for the trip. On the day she was to be evicted, she was playing online. And the day after, and the day after that. I was scammed even though she swears up and down she did not lie to me. I found out that this is the 3rd time she has taken money from people. Is there a way I can sue her for my money back since she apparently did not use it for the intended purpose? Also, is there a way I can sue her for more money for punitive damages to teach her a lesson so she hopefully would not do this to anyone else?

You have to first find her, then file a law suit where she lives, then have to prove that she is the same person you talked to online and then prove several other things that are going to be very difficult.

Thus, maybe you "could" sue her in some sense, but in a real world sense, no, its not going anywhere. You learned the hardway to never wire anyone money.
