Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey

Search Warrant

My friend just asked a question but i have a differant approach to ask?

THe computer was seized based on a consent to seize the comptuer. Twenty days later, a search warrant was issued to search the computer's hardrive foir evidence. The search warrant stated the warrant to be executed within 30 days. Since the computer was in the police's posession, does the execution to search for inventroy mean to search for the evidence? The computer's harddrive was not searched until 4 months later. DId the search warrant expire?

Re: Search Warrant

From what you described, the warrant to search the contents of the hard drive did expire and anything found as a result of that search could then be subject to a motion to suppress the evidence. Please contact me if you would like to discuss this in more detail.
