search warrants
how long does it normally take for a police department to obtain a search warrant? can it take over 9 hours with the residents not being allowed in the house and being watched by cops as they sit outside

Re: search warrants
I agree with Mr. Moore, however, it seems like the cops did the right thing here. Instead of jumping the gun, they waited to get a warrant. But lets say they screwed things up and took too long, what is your recourse? I can tell you that it will probably be nothing.
Your best defense here is to get a good attorney and let him or her worry about how they will win the case for you.
Re: search warrants
There is no reason why it should take nine hours to obtain a search warrant because there are always judges available on an emergent basis.

Re: search warrants
Normally I would say it should not take more than a few hours to obtain a search warrant in an emergent situation, but think about it - if the police could not keep people away from a scene, the people that would go into the residence would if possible, destroy the evidence the police would be obtaining the search warrant for in the first place.
