For a third conviction for shoplifting there is mandatory jail time. My advice at this point is to definitely consult with a lawyer, and probably retain a lawyer to defend you. Yes, get an attorney ASAP. Due to the dollar amount, you are actually facing a 4th degree felony charge and with your record, avoiding jail may not be easy at all. You have several serious problems that you need to take care of.
