Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey

Shoplifting Charge 2001

I was arrested in Jan. 2001 for shoplifting (2nd offense)

I was bailed out and did not go to court and i belive thier is a warrant. It's now 2006 and I want to clear this matter up. What will happen to me since it's been this long?

Re: Shoplifting Charge 2001

What will happen is hard to predict because in shoplifting cases the witnesses are store employees who may have been fired; quit their job or moved to another part of the country.

You could call the court and find out how much the bail is and be prepared to be bailed out by friends and family or a bondsman.

Call me if you like. The idea is to avoid a shoplifting conviction by getting an acquittal or an amendment to the charge.

Re: Shoplifting Charge 2001

Its not really the charge thats the biggest problem, but the warrant. With regard to that, its all in how it is presented to the court. I'd like to run a background check on you and see what is out there. Then we can take it from there and handle the charge. My initial consultations are always free, so feel free to call me at 732/247/3340 and we can discuss your issue.

Good luck!

Re: Shoplifting Charge 2001

There most likely is a warrant for your arrest for missing court back a few years ago. However, when you post the bail you will get a new court date and can address the real issue, the shoplifting charge. Without any further details from you regarding the case itself, I can't really give you advice at this time. However, I will tell you that in general you are facing heavy fines and potentially jail time. For a third conviction for shoplifting there is mandatory jail time. I am an attorney who has handled very many cases similar to yours in various courts throughout New Jersey in the past. I would like to discuss your case with you in more detail. Please contact me at your convenience. I never charge for simply talking to a person about their case. Thank you.

Sincerely yours, -Ronald Aronds, Esq.-
