can somone with a criminal conviction vote

I was pled guilty to accepting an unlawful gratuity in January of 2004 and I am currently on 2 years probation. At sentencing the Judge told me that I can not posess a firearm or any illegal substances etc. He did not mention anything about voting. Will I be able to vote in the upcoming general election?

Generally, a person convicted of a felony, especially one involving a public official receiving an illegal gratuity, cannot vote. However, I would advise you to check with your local town clerk to confirm that this applies in your situation - they are the onew who would register you to vote in your community, so they would be able to give you a definite answer.
