Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey
My son is 20 y/o dating a 17 y/o can there be any legal ramifiactions to this if sexual activity becomes involed or not? This is one of those gray areas were no one knows if it is legal or not. I am not even sure if I am in the correct area of law. Thank you in advance.

There is nothing gray about this area of the law. If your son is 20, and is dating a 20 year old, make sure he has money for condoms, and don't worry about jail. The age of consent in New Jersey is 16. People between the age of 13 and 16 can consent to have relations with those who are not more than four years older than they are. Under the age of 13, there is no ability to consent.
