A burglary charge must be filed within five years following the date of the offense. Once the complaint is filed there are other issues that may arise, such as the right to a speedy trial. On the other hand, once the complaint is filed a defendant's absence and failure to appear in court
does not give rise to a statute of limitations or speeding trial argument in his favor.
