Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey

Statutory Rape

I'd like to know how long a person has before they can no longer be convicted of statutory rape. I heard after 7 years after the incident happened, a person can't be convicted. And how much time can they do if convicted.

It depends upon your situation. Remember that the child is a minor. You should call to discuss your situation, later today.

Re: Statutory Rape

Depending on the specific facts of the case you are asking about, there could be NO statute of limitations for prosecution (see NJSA 2C:1-6) and you may be facing up to twenty years in state prison if it is a case falling under NJSA 2c:14-2a(or longer - Megan's law cases can keep you in prison indefinitely in some cases). I am an attorney that has handled many cases similar to the one you describe in the past. I would like very much to discuss the details of yor case with you. Please call me at 1-908-272-0111 to discuss your case. There is never any charge for consulting with me on a case. I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely yours, -Ronald Aronds, Esq. -
