Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey
Here is what the summons reads. "within the jurisdiction of this court, obstruct the administration of law, by attempting to prevent officers from investigating a firearms complaint, specifically: by refusing to reveal himself as officers were clearing a house and then ignoring officers commands to show his hands when located by officers. Contrary to and in violation of NJS 2C:29-1a. A disorderly persons offense."
Here is the story of the whole fiasco at hand:
Between the hours of 8 - 9am, my brother Jeffrey, 15, had 3 friends over our house. His friends walked outside with one of my brother Timothy, 17, orange tipped airsoft guns(BB guns) and proceeded to play with them in our driveway, shooting each other, and nothing and nobody else . A passer by decided that one of them was carrying a sawed-off shotgun and proceeded to call the Hillsborough Police Department, to which they responded to this complain with about 8 or 9 squad cars, completely surrounding my house. My brothers 13, 15, 16 walk outside to check the situation, and we're greeted to these exact words "GET YOUR FUCKING HANDS UP AND GET THE FUCK ON THE GROUND!" They then proceed to just break into our house to begin an investigation, never providing a search warrant of any kind. They entered my sister's bedroom and proceed to wake her with a rifle to her head while screaming "GET YOUR FUCKING HANDS UP." They proceeded to lead her out of the house and push her to the ground. The police then proceeded to discover that these guns were in fact harmless and merely airsoft guns. Now comes my situation. Police enter my room while I'm asleep and proceed to pull my blanket off of me, with a rifle pointed at my head. They then proceeded to put 2 sets of handcuffs on me, 1 of which broke one of my blood vessels. They claim(Sgt. Pryor to be exact, who also filed the complaint) that they entered my room and told me to put my hands up, however I was unconscious until the blanket was ripped off me, at which point I was cooperative in every aspect of their investigation. They asked me why I did not put my hands up to which I responded, you just woke me up when you removed the blanket. They asked me what was behind a door in my room, to which I replied that was a closet. I was then taken outside in my boxers and pushed to the ground on our rock driveway, to which I have little rocks stuck in my skin. From the point of my consciousness up to the end of my captivity in the police station I was 100% cooperative and even thanked by the booking officer, officer err. This officer also informed me that the Sargent filling the complaint against me was a bit of a hot head and was harsh. My brothers all minors and as young as 13 were also place into handcuffs and brought down to the police station. My brothers also have bruises from the handcuffs, as well as marks on their chest from being pushed down onto the rocks. They also confiscated about $500 worth of orange tipped airsoft guns, without returning them. Prior to being transported to the station I also overheard the lieutenant say that since our house was a little dirty they were going to take pictures of our house, without permission, and proceed to forward them to DYFS. Upon being at the station I was cooperative in every aspect, and even informed the booking officer, that while they could have made requests of me I was unconscious until the blanket was removed from me, and at this point I was cooperative.
wanted to type my whole situation so we could be sure I have a case to be found not guilty here. As well as explore other seemingly legal issues involved within this case.

Skimming your story, I gathered that the officers awoke you from a sound sleep and, in your
groggy state, did not respond to them in a prompt manner. Not guilty.
Call me if you like.
You would likely have to take this case to trial in order to win it - The prosecutor doesn't usually just dismiss these types of charges. If you take a case to trial you should definitely hire a lawyer to assist you. Please call me to discuss how I may be able to help you. Thank you.
