Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey
Theft by Deception
I have been writing lawguru every month off and on for the past 3yrs and i appreciate the information that has been provided. I am at the point now that iam sure i will go to jail if i dont get some type of really assistance. I presently have a pubilc defender, which i strongly believe doesnt have my interest. She appears to be afraid to present evidence i have provided her with, that i believe would have this case dismissed. My wife and are employed, but we only have $500.00 in savings and can make $500.00 monthly payments. As of January 2009, my case was scheduled for trial but none of the witnesses have been questioned yet. One meeting with a key witness (the prosecutor witness)scheduled a month ago and after sitting a waiting for approx. an hour the meeting was camceled. I NEED HELP PLEASE WOULD SOMEONE HELP. I was charged on this case in July of 2007. Also, I have a CD of the judge for case making inappropriated comments toward me, basilly said iam guilty.

Re: Theft by Deception
Tell your public defender to file a motion for a dismissal of the case for failure to provide a speedy trial. She'll know what you mean.

Re: Theft by Deception
You have already had one trial date and a lot of work seems to remain to be done to prepare for trial. You do have nearly enough money to hire an attorney. I would charge you a reduced fee, but your $500 is far from the amound that I would charge you.

I agree with Mr. Moore. You need to sell anything and everything and then beg, borrow, and well, just leave it at that I suppose. You need several thousand to move forward here.
