With a theft conviction he will not work for a casino again. He also will not work for a bank, insurance company, computer company or any company which does background checks. He MUST PAY

that money back NOW.

The crime of theft, with a value of over $500.00,

has a maximum sentence of five years in prison.

I suggest that he meet with a lawyer before he does anything. Please keep in mind that you cannot bargain with the State if they are not a part of the bargain. Thus, even if he pays the money back, it does not mean that the State cannot charge him. The fact is, the money was still stolen. He needs to handle this very carefully so I would suggest he get an attorney to guide him through the process.

The amount of money at issue makes this a potential third degree crime, which carries a maximum time of five years in state prison. As a first offender he is likely not looking at that much time, but the presumptive sentence does call for at least some time in prison.
