Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey
Theft from work
I work for a valet company as a manager in northern nj. Recently one of my accounts had 4 counts of theft. Somebody had stolen numerous electronic tools from several cars. I was not in any of the cars that night, but the police want to question everyone there. I have a police record already, and am afraid that the police will consider me a suspect if i go in due to my prior charges. I do not want to go and speak with them at all. However I am being pushed to go in by both the police and my employer. Do i have the right to say no and not go and speak to the police without getting myself into trouble? Because if i do have that right, I will not go in to the police station. Thank you

Re: Theft from work
I would think that your problem is that your employer might take a dim view of your refusing to talk with the police. I would suggest that you hire an attorney to accompany you to talk with the police, for your protection.
Call me if you like.
