Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey

First time offender

I was recently arrested in New Jersey for 2C:35-10a(4) possesion of marijuana under 50 grams. I know the charges are serious as wel as the punishments. I was at the hearing on tuesday and was granted a 3 week postponement, to obtain the services of an attorney. I'm not sure what I can do here, this is the first time i've ever been in trouble with the law. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Re: First time offender

I am sorry to hear about your legal problems. You should rest easy knowing that the likelihhod of you going to jail is extremely remote. In fact, if you are a first time offender, you may be eligible to participate in certain diversionary programs. Upon successful completion, the charges would be dismissed. I would be happy to discuss this matter with you at length. Plese emal me directly with your telephone number.
