Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey

I may be in trouble

What is the penalty for trying to obtain credit cards in someone else's name. I have no criminal history. A clean record.

Re: I may be in trouble

I would need the exact statute number to answer with certainty, but it is probably a third degree offense which has a possible, maximum sentence of

five years in prison.

Re: I may be in trouble

Depends on exactly what you did and if you used the card. You may wind up with just probation, but you will still have a felony record if convicted. I suggest you pick up the phone and contact an attorney ASAP to get in front of this case instead of playing catch up.

Feel free to call me at 732/247/3340 to discuss your case.
