Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey
Underage Drinking Possesion
I am 19, never got in trouble before or even got a ticket. Last night, I was in a bar and they didnt id me, so my friend and I had a few drinks. When we left the bar, I wasn't thinking and brought the drink with me. It was a blue wine type of drink in a cup. The cop saw and told me to get rid of it. As I went to throw it out, I took a sip. This set him off, and he wrote me a ticket. There is no court appearance required. He said if i pay it, nothing will become of it. My question is does this stay on my record? Or do I pay it and never hear about it again? Should I go to court or just pay the fine?

Re: Underage Drinking Possesion
Depends on how he wrote it up. If he gave you an actual UDP charge, you will lose your license for 6 months and have a criminal record. Thus, I suggest you get a good attorney. I have an office in Monmouth County so call me at 732/247/3340 to discuss your case.
