Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey

Im a Veteran please Help. Assault Case ReOpened??

I am a veteran of the Iraq war and 5 years in Marines. Any military friendly lawyers advice? Last year I was renting my friend's Grandmother's Condo in wildwood NJ. One friend brought a group of girls back and later on we asked them to leave because they were drunk and throwing cans of soda in the house. After they were led out of the house one beat on the door badly and broke it. I opened the door to calm things down and was attacked. i defended myself by grabbing the person and dragging them outside the porch door that i could lock. The cops came and I went to court for the charge but the other person didnt show up twice and my charges were dismissed. Now the person is facing property damage charges from the grandmother and brought up the assault thing and supposidly the grandmother told me that the judge is re-opening that case. Is this possible? Am I allowed to defend myself on a property that I am renting, after asking the person to leave several times, without repercussion? The person is saying they missed work for a long period of time due to a broken foot. And has a public defender and Im worried they are going to try to sue me for compensation for work missed plus criminal charges that i was previously dismissed of.
