Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey

I had my wallet, $800 cash, and other personal credit cards and information stolen from me at a bar during a fight that I was not involved in, but in the middle of. The bouncer stole it and him and another guy have been arrested, admitted to the cash stolen, and said that the wallet was returned to the bar the same night. Court is this upcoming week and I was told by the arresting officers that I do not have to attend, yet the court clerk said that I should go because all victim's usually do. I would prefer not to attend but if I do, what should I expect? Do I have to go in front of anyone? Will they ask me questions? Will these men be held responsible for reimbursement on my wallet and personal items, even tho they say they returned it after stealing the cash?
