Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey

warrant for arrest

i live in middlesex county, nj. i want to know if there are any criminal warrants out for my arrest. a friend ratted me out to cops about illegal activities i did in the past. they came once and arrested me. the cop told me he was going to investigate further into the matter. today 2 came to my door. one went to the front and one went to the back. i didn't answer. i called nearby towns to see if any warrants were active and said no. i even called the township that came here and they also said no. by law do they have to tell me if a warrant is issued? did i go about it the right way to find that info? how do you find out if a warrant has been issued?

Re: warrant for arrest

They do not have to tell you if you have warrants. You prepare to make bail and then go to the local police station with your attorney to check out your warrants since if there are warrants they are going to come and get you and it looks better for bail purposes if you surrender.
