Warrent for Failure to Appear

I found out by accident that there is a warrent for me open in New Jersey for a failure to appear violation for which I never knew that I was to appear for anything. I contacted the court there and they say I need o turn myself in. It stems from years ago a debt owed when my now wife was collection government assistance. The charge was theft by deception. What do I need to do to get rid of this warrent. I have already began to straighten things out with the agency in new jersey that wanted to be reimbursed money. how do I starighten out things with the court?

You need a good New Jersey lawyer. A WI one would

be hard pressed to negotiate a resolution for you,

although it is theoretically possible.

There is no "precise" answer to your question because the facts of each case are unique. I would need to look at your case specifically and determine the best way to approach this matter.

Unfortunately however, whatever the facts are, you are probably going to have to appear in New Jersey at least once to rectify this matter. You may even be required to appear multiple times or spend some time here in NJ to get things straightened out. There are some ideas though on how we may be able to minimize your need to appear here and get this matter resolved.
