Legal Question in Discrimination Law in New Jersey
Age Discrimination
I am 53 yrs. old. I applied to a company that was hiring approximately 200 people for temporary help for the holidays. I was told I had the job but that they needed my DD214 (discharge papers from the Air Force)before they could schedule me for orientaion. I informed them I could not find the form and would have to send away for a copy. They then informed me I would not be hired without it. I'm sure they don't hire only veterans. What recourse do I have?
Thank you in advance for any information you can give me.

Re: Age Discrimination
Check around and see if there are any employees your age or older. If not, you'll be on firmer ground charging age discrimination. It sounds like you'll find they have no employees your age. Then go to the EEOC, the Equal Employment Opportunity Comission, and file a complaint.
