Legal Question in Discrimination Law in New Jersey

Discrimination based on my pregnancy

I have worked as a tap/jazz dance instructor for 7 years and have danced there 14 years. I have known the owner for 17 years and upon discovering I was pregnant I informed her. I was still able to perform the duties of my job but she said that I would have to step aside, when i started to show, because I was a bad role model. This was put to me as such because I needed to spare the feelings of the parents and children due to the fact that the children looked up to me. Do I have any legal recourse in state or federal court?

An employer cannot ask you to step down because you are pregnant or that your pregnancy makes you a bad role model unless these are bona fide job requirements and it is hard for me to coceptualize any legitimate reason under you situation to support empolyer's action. Yes, you may have ground for action
